I’m sooooo happy with how PRAK is coming along!! I’ve made the site a bit more dynamic today (device-dependent image sizing, images that expand/change on hover, less hard-coding) and I’ve added a way to access the closet. These changes were all inspired by/helped along by the members of the r/neocities Discord server (big thank you to the owner humantooth!) Tomorrow, I plan on adding a few more buttons to fill up the blog page and maybe a few stamps/gifs/blinkies to the closet.
Today was a bit of a slow day; I got most of the way through Cats (1998), made apple cinnamon pancakes, played Hylics, and chatted a bit with online friends. Not much else. It’s nice to relax :-)
The clock just passed 12 here, so I’m going to enjoy a late night snack and head to bed. Good night internet!! Cool page of the day: McBling Aesthetics Wiki

Long time no see! I haven’t been working much on the site this week as I’ve been having a lot of headaches (probably from looking at my screen all day lol.) Since the 22nd, I’ve added a 404 page and tweaked a few things on the blog (added an animated header, changed the colour of links to blue, and added a little gradient at the bottom.) Today, I plan on filling the empty space on the blog, but I’m still (as of 9:03AM) not sure what with… I still have the battle jacket idea on the mind.
I’ve been keeping myself busy with cooking (tried making gummies for the first time), the Neographinator (now an official activity on the r/conlangs server!!), and rewatching the same Sideways video on Les Mis over and over and over.
(Linguistic/worldbuilding things ahead) This week’s official Neographinator prompt is: “This script is written from right to left. It is written with one to sixteen strokes or components per glyph. It is written in blocks. It is written with consonant clusters of up to four consonants. It is written on leaves or another delicate natural material. It is written with varied-shaped glyphs.” I haven’t had much luck with the script yet (my attempts are too generic and repetitive but I can’t get away with it here like I could with the scripts of the Bauhaus-esque Rwna or the hyper-conformist Brona or the necessarily-simple Nabu… I’ll explain more on my conlanging/worldbuilding page when the time comes) BUT I think I have a promising premise for the language/conculture. As of right now, the script I have in mind is a featural/logography mix used by Iguanas who “speak” a language with the following sounds: exhale, inhale, purr, ground slap with hand, ground slap with tail, ground scratch, ground slither, cough, and whine (all with length and volume distinctions where possible, + tone distinction for the whine [which is the only ”””””vowel””””” in the language.]) (Linguistic/worldbuilding things over. Enjoy this green iguana photo from Reptiles Magazine:)
Also exciting and unrelated: I went to my first ever drag pageant recently, I got my temporary driver’s license (aced the written test!), I might be having a reunion with some of my distant friends this weekend, I’m visiting family soon, and I’m starting uni soon!!! August has been good to me :-)

Big news!!! I’ve added the glowing PRAK homepage and have fixed a few things with link formatting and scrollbars (a classic case of mixing up # and . in css…) The glowing homepage is inspired by my recent halftone experiments and the art of Mason Lindroth (the creator of Hylics, now on sale for $3.29!) As of today, all four buttons on the PRAK homepage lead to this blog, but I hope to add a redirect to my art, my conlanging endeavours, and other things in the near future. One idea of mine is to make a sort of “digital battle jacket” to stick all of the gifs and buttons that I find around the web onto (I found a few cute ones on Oh no, it’s Noah’s site today!)
I’ve also started a new project in C++ called the Neographinator, which generates prompts intended to inspire the creation of new writing systems. The members of the r/conlangs Discord server’s #neography channel (tyler.nelson, jan Nowa/notreallynoah, and potatcloride especially) have been very helpful and supportive in helping beef up and debug the generator. Hopefully, I can start hosting a weekly Neographinator Challenge on the server! I’ll make sure to share my entries here when the time comes. :-) Here’s an example of the generator’s work (when asked to give six prompts): “This script is written with a powder. It is written for educational or teaching reasons. It is written differently by the artisans or scribes. It is written in a style similar to no other natural script. It is written with four to ten strokes or components per glyph. It is written on stone.”

I figured out how to add images and buttons to the site! PRAK is butt ugly atm because I’m essentially using it as my little html sandbox but it will be nicer in the future, trust :-) In other news, I did some more tinkering with coloured halftones and came up with this drawing of my dynamic duo:

I started Khan Academy’s Computer Programming course! I’m focussing on HTML and CSS rn as those are most important for building PRAK, but I might brush up on my JS once I have the basics down. Update: I’ve finished the first two units of the course. 7 more to go!

PRAK is born! Thanks to dopestar on Discord and her site for introducing me to Neocities and the indie web. Fun fact: prak is the word for “sky” in my conlang Rwna.
